Giving up one's old martial art practice in order to concentrate on a new one, is a lot like giving up on a long standing relationship. There is a sense of guilt and a feeling of what will I do without those old routines and methods that have become a part of me over so many years, just as with an old relationship one gets to feel comfortable, even if it's no longer fulfilling.
But the time has come for a fresh start, I'm not in Taiwan to practice something I already know, I'm here to learn something new, and in order to do that effectively that needs time, patience and dedication. So I've decided to throw in the towel with long standing habitual practice and go for something completely new and different.
So to compliment my new life in Taiwan I'm changing my Taijiquan practice completely too.
For some, change is a stressful thing, but for me it's a time for spiritual renewal and a chance to refresh my daily routines. To be honest that has already happened with the move to Taiwan and with a new career to boot, but now it's time to tackle the world of "Mind, Body and Spirit", and also time to purge some old demons.
So goes the well worn adage "a change is as good as a rest" and taking in to account how many years it's going to take me to learn this new style, it's going to be a very long rest indeed!

ah, but what does it all mean?
It means that I don't have enough time to practice two gongfu systems in a day and I have to make a choice, old or new?
And it also means that life is gradually getting a complete "makeover", which is cool!
